Some requests just can't be denied. That was the case when we received a special request from Riley Hospital for Children. When a social worker at the hospital asked if there was anything she could do for a young cancer patient, his answer was simple: he wanted a capybara.
A short time later, the special gift, along with 59 more GiveAFriend care packages, showed up at the hospital.
The boy's dad shared the following with us:
Just wanted to say thank you. My son had been battling cancer at Riley Hospital. The social worker asked him if there was anything she could do for him and he asked for a capybara. A few weeks later she comes back in with a box from your company. His smile was so big after popping the box open to find his new stuffed friend. She continued on to say not only did you donate his, but an additional 60 for other kids. Thank you for being so gracious. I hope the other children get the same smile you’ve created for my son.
This story reminds us why we do what we do—and we couldn't do it without you!
We hope to receive photos of this delivery soon, but due to the nature of their work, this can be challenging. We respect our recipients' privacy as they navigate through these difficult challenges.
